As you all know, I left Sharkey and moved to Mastodon because I saw so many people on YouTube recommending it.
So, I hopped on the "hype train" to see what Mastodon was all about. I wanted to understand why so many people were moving there and what made it different from other social media platforms.
Then I came across this:
"Your home feed should be filled with what matters to you most, not what a corporation thinks you should see. Radically different social media, back in the hands of the people."
After reading that, I was interested in trying it out for myself. The idea of a social network where people control their own communities instead of a big company controlling everything sounded interesting.
So, I started looking through different servers and picked a few to join. However, after using them for a while, I felt like something was missing.
Then I realized what it was.
Mastodon does not have reactions in the default version. It wasn't a huge problem, but I was surprised because many social platforms have them as a normal feature. Later, I heard that some Mastodon servers actually do have reactions.
So, I started looking around for that server.
I checked the server list, but I couldn't find it on the official server tab. Because of that, I had to do some research to figure out where this server was and how people were finding it.
I asked a few of my friends (who I will not mention due to privacy), and they told me that the server was called critter.cafe. They also told me that Critter.cafe has another server called critter.gay.
After hearing about it, I became curious.
I started wondering how many servers Critter.cafe actually has, what other communities they run, and what makes these servers different from the others.
So, I decided to look deeper into Critter.cafe...
